How Agents Discover Off-Market Properties
Off-market properties are properties for sale but are not yet listed on the multiple listing service. Because the public doesn’t yet know about this property, it means there’s little to no competition. So, how does one find off-market properties? The answer is simple—ask your agent because agents are the first ones to know. Here at RMG Real Estate Network, our team learns of off-market properties in these three ways:
- Agents work hard on their prospecting. This involves canvassing in neighborhoods by knocking on doors and sending out mail, among others, which is no easy task as this would entail a lot of time, effort, and energy.

- Agents maintain great relationships and continuously build their network. They will communicate with other agents in the field and ask about potential sellers in your target price range and neighborhood.
- Agents have access to homeowners who are planning on selling their homes. Since selling a property isn’t a light decision that anyone can make on a whim, the owners typically maintain communication with agents to help iron out their planning process.
