Chugiak is a community that is located in the Municipality of Anchorage in Alaska. It can be found approximately twenty miles northeast of Downtown Anchorage. It is home to around 8,300 residents who make a living by working in Anchorage or in the Matanuska-Susitna Valley. The name Chugiak means “place of many places”. It was first settled in the early 1950s by military personnel who served in the state of Alaska during World War II.
